Advanced technology for driver assistance & automated driving

Technological progress and customer demands are accelerating the development of automated driving. Advanced functions like Travel Assist, Emergency Assist and Park Assist already support Volkswagen Group customers when driving and parking. Together with partners like Bosch and Horizon Robotics, we're working to make automated driving functions widely accessible – bringing more comfort to drivers and enhancing road safety for everyone. By driving key developments in-house, we ensure that core technologies and innovations are shaped directly within the Group.

Democratizing automated driving across all vehicle classes

Our goal is to make automated driving functions accessible to everyone. We are driving this transformation by developing scalable software stacks for advanced driver assistance systems, automated driving, and parking solutions. To accelerate this in-house development, we have teamed up with strong partners.

We are working with Bosch as part of the Automated Driving Alliance on a scalable AI software stack for automated driving functions – from sensor to actuator. Meanwhile, in the CARIZON joint venture, CARIAD China and Horizon Robotics are pursuing an “in China, for China” approach.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems on the road

Travel Assist
Takes over assisted lateral and longitudinal control as needed, and can also support the assisted lane changing function on motorways.
Emergency Assist
Enhances road safety by automatically detecting driver inactivity and safely bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop.
Park Assist
Remembers and then independently performs various types of parking manoeuvres over a pre-defined distance.
Remote Park Assist
Allows you to park your vehicle remotely using your smartphone – making parking more accessible and efficient.

Automated Driving Alliance

Within the Automated Driving Alliance, we are developing scalable automated driving solutions backed by real-world experience in cooperation with our partner Bosch. Together, we're using over 200 petabytes of data to make driving safer and smarter. We have more than 1,500 test and data collection vehicles on the road across Europe, the U.S., and Japan, and our fleets are operational 24/7.

CARIZON

CARIZON, our joint venture with Horizon Robotics, is focused on delivering automated driving and autonomous driving solutions tailored to the Chinese market. With a strong “in China, for China” approach, we’re developing highly optimized, full-stack solutions including software and hardware, which meet local customer demands – combining deep local tech expertise with Volkswagen Group’s DNA in safety, to bring safer intelligent mobility to China’s roads.
