Our recruiting process

Here, you can get an insight into our recruiting process. Please be aware that this is a general process and it may differ slightly for some positions, such as those for PhD candidates, trainees and students, as well as for management positions. For a detailed overview on the different processes, please contact careers@cariad.technology.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the structure of our application process largely remains the same. However, to support the health and wellbeing of applicants and employees, conversations that would normally take place in person are conducted via video calls for the time being.

1. Application

The first step is to find the right job for you! You can browse our open positions on the CARIAD careers page and filter by location or business area to help you find the perfect match. Once you find a position that interests you, click on ‘Apply now’ and you’ll be taken to our job portal.

Follow the steps to set up a user profile. This will allow you to review your application later at any time. Next, upload your resume so we can get to know you. We also recommend that you include a cover letter and any other relevant certificates to support your application. You can submit documents in English or German.

If you want to update your documents or personal information later, even after you’ve submitted your application, simply log in into your user profile with your email address and password and update or replace documents.

Once you’ve applied for a position, you’ll immediately receive a confirmation email. If you haven’t received a confirmation, please also check your spam folder. Our recruiting team will review your application and forward it to the relevant business unit. We’ll get in touch with you to provide feedback as soon as possible.

If you change your mind and want to withdraw your application, log in to your application and click on the recycle bin next to your application.

2. Technical assessment

Depending on the position you apply for, you may need to take a technical assessment. This helps you to better understand the requirements of the role, while allowing us to determine whether your skills and experience are a good match.

We’ll let you know if you need to take a technical assessment and provide you with more information via email. The assessment is carried out by our partner Futurepath.

3. Interview

If your application and technical assessment are successful, you’ll be invited to an interview with the relevant department and a member of HR. In some cases, the technical assessment and interview might take place at the same time.

The interview is a chance for us to get to know each other personally. To begin with, we’ll tell you more about CARIAD and the mission that drives us. We’ll give you an insight into what it’s like to work with us and the team you could be a part of. Then, it’s your turn – introduce yourself, describe your motivations and tell us what attracted you to CARIAD. We’ll ask you a few questions about your career and personal development so that we can evaluate your expertise – both in a technical and personal sense – and understand whether you might fit into the team. We want to find out more about your values, as well as how you manage complex situations and what teamwork means for you. We’ll also assess whether you can take on responsibility and are able to challenge yourself.

4. Contractual agreement

Shortly after your interview, we’ll inform you about our decision. If you’re successful, you’ll receive a call from a member of HR to negotiate your salary and learn more about the benefits of work at CARIAD. Once approved by our Works Council, we’ll send you your contract. The onboarding process will then start on your first day.

If you aren’t successful, but are eager to work with us at CARIAD, please don’t give up! You’re welcome to try again, and there may well be another position that’s a better fit for you and your skills.
