The infotainment screen is seamlessly integrated into a premium cockpit with dark surfaces, red ambient lighting, and clearly arranged climate and vehicle controls, highlighting a connected, software‑driven in‑car experience in an urban environment.

The new ID.Software 6 features the scalable Android-based Infotainment stack, delivering enhanced performance. The ID.S 6 offers direct access to a wide range of third-party apps via the in-car Application Store developed by CARIAD. Whether you want to listen to your favorite music on Spotify or Amazon Music, watch a video on YouTube or even enjoy a quick game in the car: the Application Store, part of Volkswagen’s Innovision infotainment system, offers all this directly within the vehicle’s HMI.

A familiar app experience now inside the car

The system works much like the app environment users know from their smartphones. Once an app is installed from the store, it appears in the in-car app grid and can be launched directly with a tap: No need to connect a phone to stream music or access services. The experience adapts to each market: the store presents an individualized selection tailored to the user’s region.

CARIAD has partnered with HARMAN to integrate the connected vehicle platform that allows third-party app providers to easily bring their content and innovations into the car. The platform is based on Android Automotive OS (AAOS) and enables a continuously growing ecosystem and offers a streamlined process for developers to join the automotive ecosystem.

“We are more than happy to launch an AAOS-based application store for the first time on Volkswagen cars and to bring our app ecosystem to their customers”, says Sven Eckoldt, Partnership Manager for the Application Store.

The view highlights the “Audiobooks” category, showing apps such as ARD Audiothek, Audible, and Legible with install and open statuses. The dark, vehicle‑optimized user interface features clear typography, recognizable app icons, and system status information like time and temperature, emphasizing seamless integration into the vehicle operating system.

Which apps can users expect?

The Application Store offers a broad range of applications across categories such as music, video, gaming, navigation, parking, charging, weather, and remote work. Popular third-party apps like Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube are already available.

Available today and expanding

The Application Store first launched in vehicles with the E3 1.2 electronic architecture, such as the Audi Q6 e-tron. CARIAD and the Volkswagen Group are now scaling the technology to the entry-level class part of the Electric Urban Car Familiy, starting with the Cupra Raval, Volkswagen ID.Polo, and the new Škoda Epiq.
