SDV Hub transitions to joint venture after successful pioneering work
Chief Software Officer and SDV Hub Lead Sanjay Lal will leave CARIAD at the end of 2024.
About a year ago, CARIAD started an exciting journey with Sanjay Lal to create a dedicated hub for software-defined vehicle (SDV) development. It was a joint project between CARIAD, AUDI and the Volkswagen brand.
The SDV Hub has successfully delivered pioneering work. In a next step the SDV development efforts are now transitioning to the Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies joint venture.
At the end of the year, Chief Software Officer and SDV Hub Lead Sanjay Lal will leave the Board of CARIAD SE. “On behalf of the whole team, I would like to thank Sanjay for his dedication and celebrate the milestones we achieved together,” says CARIAD CEO Peter Bosch.
By partnering with Rivian, Volkswagen Group is now opening the next chapter in its SDV journey. The joint venture strengthens Volkswagen Group’s global competitive and technological position by combining its scale and industry-leading vehicle platform competencies with Rivian’s software and electrical hardware technology.
Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies will develop next-generation electrical architecture and software technology for both companies’ future electric vehicles.
