CARIAD delivers automotive software across multiple vehicle segments for the Volkswagen Group including high-volume, premium, and luxury vehicles. With our new SDV Hub, we are venturing out and creating software-defined vehicles (SDV) of the future that are transforming the way our Group conceptualizes, designs, and engineers our vehicles. Together with experts from Audi and Volkswagen, the SDV Hub will support the development of an SDV architecture and software platform that will enable the ecosystem in a collaborative and fast-growing environment. For the core of the SDV Hub, we are looking to work with technical experts across all levels that are ready to rethink the way we do software for our future cars.

YOUR TEAM

This is a position as one of the System Safety engineer role(s) in the System Safety and Validation team. This role has two major objectives:

  • Coordination, execution and documentation of the architecture and requirements, tools and plans for the overall safety concept on one of several domain controllers for the Software Defined Vehicle
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for new and novel analysis measures to connect across the multiple domains levels of system abstraction

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for serving as a subject matter expert to derive and define the safety concept of local domain controller and support jointly developed hardware and software components at the system level
  • Integrate and create tools to expedite or automate the speed at which documentation and requirements are generated and managed
  • Creation of safety relevant documentation, requirements and specifications and reports
  • Reports the status to CARIAD stakeholders & management
  • Guide engineers on documentation activities as needed

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or related technical field
  • Minimum seven years of Safety Engineering industry experience including at least 5 years of hands-on experience in development of safety concepts at software level for highly complex systems including coordination of system level design to meet safety goals in development of operating systems, middleware and/or communication fabric for safety critical systems
  • Deep knowledge, understanding and hands on experience in ISO26262 standard
  • Proven track record in architecting end to end safety of one or more automotive software only elements and having taken it from proof of concept to successful production
  • Strong knowledge and experience in FMEDA, DFMEA, FMEA and failure analysis
  • ADAS safety architecture and requirements for L2++, L3, L4
  • Experience in Safety management, traceability, analysis and tracking tools
