At CARIAD, we're bundling and further expanding the Volkswagen Group's software expertise. We’re uniting over 6,500 global experts to build a scalable technology stack, including a software platform, unified electronic architecture and reliable connection to the automotive cloud. Our CARIDIANS are developing vehicle functions such as driver assistance systems, a next-generation infotainment platform, power electronics and charging technology, and digital services in and around the vehicle.

Our software can already be found in Volkswagen ID. models and will soon power Audi and Porsche vehicles with the E3 1.2 platform in 2024.

It's no easy task, but with experts like you, we can shape the future of mobility. Join us at CARIAD and be part of this exciting journey!

YOUR TEAM

As a Senior Software Engineer for Machine Learning Core Technologies, you take responsibility for the whole life cycle of our core deep learning models for ADAS / AD series products. This includes the design of efficient architectures, implementation of them, optimization for target hardware and rolling them out to our main production stack. You will also be responsible to extend our training/validation pipelines and the corresponding tooling for maintaining our continuous training pipeline.

You would become part of our Core AI team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Optimizing the performance of our core neural networks which will be running in our ADAS / AD products, e.g. through improved training techniques and methods or architectural design changes
  • Writing production level code to integrate with, extend and optimize our existing deep learning tools and CI/CD/CT pipelines
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of AI components to ensure reliability and accuracy
  • Leveraging large datasets to train a variety of deep neural networks, such as e.g. multi-task networks for perception, birds-eye-view networks, generative models / vision foundation models
  • Keeping track of state-of-the-art deep learning approaches relevant to ADAS/AD, implementing, exploring, training and evaluating them on our compute cluster in fast iteration cycles

WHO YOU ARE

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, and other related field
  • A PhD in machine learning or relevant publications at major machine learning conferences would both be welcome
  • Significant hands-on experience with production-level data driven development, including training, analyzing/profiling and iteratively optimizing deep neural networks for embedded platforms
  • Deep understanding of state-of-the-art deep learning approaches for ADAS / AD (e.g. CNN- / Transformer- / RNN-based multi-task architectures, birds-eye-view networks) and capability to bring them into production
  • Strong knowledge of modern deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow / PyTorch, and experience with CI/CD/CT for ML in production
  • Substantial software engineering capabilities, in particular in Python and/or C++, including debugging and profiling with previous experience with big data architectures and efficiently handling large datasets
  • Fluency in English, and German a plus

NICE TO KNOW

  • Remote work options
  • Temporary work from abroad in selected countries
  • Flextime / optional working hours
  • Company pension plan
  • Annual professional development
  • Sabbatical option up to 6 months
  • 30 days paid + 10 days unpaid leave
  • Possibility for VW Group car leasing
