At CARIAD, we're bundling and further expanding the Volkswagen Group's software expertise. We’re uniting over 6,500 global experts to build a scalable technology stack, including a software platform, unified electronic architecture and reliable connection to the automotive cloud. Our CARIDIANS are developing vehicle functions such as driver assistance systems, a next-generation infotainment platform, power electronics and charging technology, and digital services in and around the vehicle.

Our software can already be found in Volkswagen ID. models and will soon power Audi and Porsche vehicles with the E3 1.2 platform in 2024.

It's no easy task, but with experts like you, we can shape the future of mobility. Join us at CARIAD and be part of this exciting journey!

YOUR TEAM

You are working in the area of "Architecture & Technologies". At CARIAD we are the backbone of mobility and constitute the interface to vehicle mechatronics in the Volkswagen Group. Our organization spearheads the transformation from a traditional manufacturing company to a software-driven tech player. In doing so, we enable innovations from the vehicle to the off-board as the basis for future applications ranging from climate control to infotainment and autonomous driving. In your job, you will work in agile teams and contribute to the development of the next generation of E/E and software architecture. We are responsible for the consistent and efficient design and implementation of the architecture. In doing so, we directly empower the driving and user/customer experience in and around the car by reducing complexity and ensuring efficiency. We specify, develop, model, test, calibrate, evaluate and design innovative technology requirements that fascinate our customers.

The in-vehicle diagnostics are more service-oriented and more exposed than ever before: In the near future vehicles will behave like web-servers offering services to different clients – classic ones, like production and garage, and new ones serving data-driven digital business models and customer care like remote services, over-the-air-update and re-configuration of the vehicle on the fly and individual for every customer. The diagnostic technologies enable these use-cases and business models with platform functions, tools & infrastructure components. To deliver on a predictable and fast-paced schedule we need to work on service-oriented vehicle diagnostics with modeling & simulation early on and use models to generate interface component descriptions, test-cases & reference implementations for state-machines into our delivery pipelines.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Generate a repository and structure it such that model-driven workflows can grow based on a toolchain provided by The Mathworks: MATLAB, Simulink, Composer and the AUTOSAR-Target Add-On
  • Model a future diagnostic service – a vehicle environment monitor – in Simulink / Simulink Composer and build a test environment ready for simulation; synchronize the implementation (classic AUTOSAR) with the model and enable to test the source-code with Model-in-the-Loop / Software-in-the-Loop
  • Re-Engineer and generate from AUTOSAR-Descriptions: Existing / deployed diagnostic services implementing identity & access in Volkswagen’s current line of vehicles
  • Bring up an executable specification (a runnable Simulink / Simulink Composer Model) for a diagnostic gateway service to be deployed in our software-defined vehicle initiative

WHO YOU ARE

  • On track for a Master degree in software & systems engineering (for example computer sciences, electrical engineering, physics) or similar qualification
  • Experience with the following tools and languages: C/C++, Python, Matlab & Simulink; non-functional testing of web-services is very welcome
  • Nice to have: Experience with Simulink and it’s Simulation and Source Code Generation Capabilities (Solver Configuration, Packaging of Cource Code, Integration of C-Code into Simulink-Models)
  • Nice to have: Experience with Simulink Composer or other MBSE Toolchains like Enterprise Architect and experience in processing AUTOSAR-Software Component Descriptions with Simulink
  • Nice to have: Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment-Frameworks and Tools: Jenkins, JFrog Artifactotry,… some Shell-Scripting in PowerShell and/or Linux
  • Negotiation, listening & communication skills as well as the ability to learn and dive deep into technical subjects
  • Fluent English and German language

NICE TO KNOW

  • Remote work options
  • Internship
    • Duration: 3 to 6 months
    • 35-hour weeks
  • Working Student
    • Duration: 6 months
    • 20 h/week, up to 35 h/week during semester break
