Internship - Automated Parking Concept Development (m/f/d)

At CARIAD, we're bundling and further expanding the Volkswagen Group's software expertise. We’re uniting over 6,500 global experts to build a scalable technology stack, including a software platform, unified electronic architecture and reliable connection to the automotive cloud. Our CARIDIANS are developing vehicle functions such as driver assistance systems, a next-generation infotainment platform, power electronics and charging technology, and digital services in and around the vehicle.

Our software can already be found in Volkswagen ID. models and will soon power Audi and Porsche vehicles with the E3 1.2 platform in 2024.

YOUR TEAM

Our ADAS/ AD team's  focus is on coming up with innovative automated parking functions ranging from the final parking maneuver to an automated drive through a parking facility. We develop functional and architectural concepts and extend our software stack with existing solutions from all over the VW group as well as our own concept modules in the PLAN area ( situation interpretation, trajectory planning, and decision making). We then test our software in simulation and in in prototype vehicles.

We offer a variety of projects touching on automated parking concept development and we are on the lookout for an enthusiastic intern to join our team. You get the chance to work with different teams and VW brands to integrate these innovative solutions into our stack and bring autonomous driving and assisted parking to life. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Extend our concept software modules by cooperating with our talented developers in writing code
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate  concept solutions in our stack
• Conduct tests, simulation and analysis on our  functions in vehicles
• Support the whole development cycle including defining requirements, running scenario based testing and evaluation scripts

WHO YOU ARE

• Enrolled student in the computer science/ electrical/ automotive engineering or equivalent field
• Experience with programming languages, ie. C++/ Python
• Knowledge in objected oriented programming, unity or embedded skills would be advantageous
• Analytical understanding of complex systems and creative problem solving skills
• Great team player and experience with collaborative coding
• Self-starter, organized and results-oriented
• Fluent in English. German would be beneficial
