Thomas Sedran appointed as new Chief Financial Officer of CARIAD

Wolfsburg/Ingolstadt | 3 March 2022 – Thomas Sedran has been appointed by the Supervisory Board of CARIAD SE as Chief Financial Officer effective 15 March 2022. He takes over the role from Werner Neuhold, who is returning to AUDI AG after successfully establishing the Finance department. In his new role, Sedran will be responsible for areas including finance and procurement.

With his many years of strategy, finance and capital markets expertise, Thomas Sedran will support the growth of the technology company CARIAD. CARIAD aims to massively build up its own software competencies and technology capacities in its portfolio. In this way, the software company is supporting the Volkswagen Group's NEW AUTO strategy, with which the Group aims to secure its leading role in a world of emission-free, autonomous mobility. In the future, the automotive software company will focus even more on inorganic growth.

CARIAD CEO Dirk Hilgenberg says: “Thomas Sedran has many years of experience in M&A, strategy and finance, and perfectly complements our management team. I look forward to leading CARIAD into the next growth phase with him.” Hilgenberg continues, “I would like to thank Werner Neuhold, who has built up the finance department over the last two years and therefore contributed substantially to the foundation of CARIAD.”

Thomas Sedran holds a doctorate in economics and worked as a consultant from 1988 to 2012. In 2012, Sedran was appointed as a member of the Board of Management of Adam Opel AG and interim CEO. In 2015, he became Head of Group Strategy at Volkswagen AG. From 2018, he was Chairman of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand. Most recently, Sedran was Head of Portfolio Management Commercial Vehicles and Mechanical Engineering at the Volkswagen Group.

Werner Neuhold has led the Finance department at CARIAD as CFO since October 2020. Previously, he was responsible for the Compliance department at AUDI AG as Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President Integrity, Compliance, Risk Management, where he had overall responsibility for the monitorship at Audi.
